What is a Dental Emergency?

 In Uncategorized

Some dental problems can wait until you have an appointment with the dentist. However, you do need emergency care in some instances and must visit the dentist as soon as possible. At Southwood Dental Studio we have noticed that many patients are unaware about what a dental emergency is. We are here to help!

What Is a Dental Emergency?

A dental emergency is when you need immediate treatment for an injury or dental problem. Most dental emergencies involve sports-related injuries such as a broken tooth, knocked out tooth, or large cracks that expose the nerve of the tooth.

If your tooth is knocked out,  you need to wash it carefully to remove any dirt from the surface and place it in a small container. Make sure the tooth remains moist by submerging it in milk or your saliva. Our dentists may be able to put your tooth back into the socket.

If you have severe cracks or a broken tooth, visit us as soon as possible to help prevent infections or damage to the nerve.
